Another Thing to Love About Madison, WI:  608 CSK

January 23rd, 2012

What's the latest thing Sprinkman Real Estate loves about living in Madison? 608 CSK. CSK stands for Community Supported Kitchen. It's the same concept as a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in which you buy shares in a farm and are rewarded with a week's worth of fresh, local, usually organic vegetables. With a CSK your share brings you two meals a week, delivered right to your doorstep. In the case of 608 CSK, those meals are more often than not organic and sourced locally. And they are so tasty that my mouth is watering as I write this.

I know this because Shelly and Trey have shares for their family. Happily the leftovers often make their way to the office refrigerator where they are generously shared. After trying the meals, I practically ran to my computer to sign up. The cost of one share is $30 a week for two meals. Two fantastic, fresh, locally sourced and produced healthy meals delivered to your home. If you purchase four or more shares, the cost drops to $12.50 per share. As they say on the website, “You can't beat that with a stick.”

The owners, Ben and Kate, just moved their CSK (and their young family) from Urbana, IL to Mazomanie, WI. After perusing the website, I look forward to meeting them almost as much as I look forward to my first meal delivery. They appear to be true foodies and locavores who appreciate the benefits and joys of eating well. You just can't help but like people like that. Especially since they share their passion and talents with the rest of us.

Check out the website for menus, gorgeous photographs and details on how to order. And then sit back and enjoy with all the extra time on your hands not spent meal planning, grocery shopping and cooking. Bon appétit!
