So. . . looking for inspiration, I've been haunting design sites, home decor blogs and the multitudes of shelter magazines piling up around my favorite reading chair. After perusing all the how-to's and tips and tricks of the trade, it seems clear to me that there are no rules and that I can hang my art any ol' way please. But still, it's nice to have guidelines. Madison, WI is a very easy place to live. The lakes offer beauty and activity year-round, the crime rate is low, the people are creative, smart and Midwestern friendly, the schools are good, the unemployment rate low, the traffic practically nonexistent (from my Chicago girl perspective, anyway), you can bike anywhere and the food and drink offerings are stunning. So when something comes along that makes living here even better, I fairly swoon. And that's what happened yesterday when I visited the new wing of the Chazen Museum of Art. Giddiness ensued. If there is one thing Madison is not short on, it's good restaurants. Agreeing where to go can be a challenge at times because the options are seemingly endless. And affordable. And good! And if your starting point is downtown you can have any ethnicity or price point, and all within walking distance, too. Read more
