How Not to Sell Your Home

January 27th, 2015

Thinking of putting your house on the market? Then I'm sure you've read up on what to do in order to prepare your home for sale. Heck, you may have even read our sage advice on that very subject. That's a good start. But equally as important is what NOT to do when selling your house.

If you're working with a good agent, he or she will undoubtedly counsel you on the ins and outs of selling your home. But it never hurts to hear it from another source. Thankfully, ActiveRain, a website of real estate agents in the know who share information with their peers, put together this infographic.

The best thing you can do when selling your home is listen to your agent. They have all the tools at their disposal to help you determine the best price, stage and declutter your home, deal with any lingering odors (that's part of staging, actually) and recommend contractors to make any necessary repairs. It's up to you to work with your agent, to be as flexible as possible when it comes to showings and to take a seat at the table when it comes to negotiating offers. It's much easier to do when you remember the whole point of all this is to  SELL YOUR HOME!

(We can help with that, by the way.)
