The State of the Union

My fellow Madisonians, visitors, and to our fair city, I’m blogging to you tonight to inform you that the State of the Union is newly revised and more inviting than ever! Since last summer we have come together to tackle the precarious problems we grappled with in order to enjoy our Union. With our concerns being both heard and handled I feel confident that our beloved chairs, beautiful views, and snappy live music are back, better than ever!

After recent renovations certain parts of the Union are now open once again! The new renovations deliver additions such as drop in arts and crafts projects, more films, and yoga. Of course the famous originals remain, but with better improvements. The brat stand has been expanded to better serve customers and to decrease the time spent waiting in lines. The extension of the lakeshore path makes for more seating and of course more terrace chairs! If you’re planning to spend time on the lake on boat or paddle craft, there is now docking access, which lets you stop and indulge at the terrace before getting back on the water. The new improvements permit better accessibility, making the Union optimal for all ages and all interests.

If you are new to Madison or here for a quick visit, make the Memorial Union the first stop on your list. Land and water seamlessly blend to boast beautiful sunsets and provide the superlative summer breeze, which epitomize why we think the Midwest (especially Madison) is surely best. Treat yourself to Babcock Ice Cream after a paddle board on the lake. Enjoy a pitcher of beer with friends, or stroll along the extended lakeshore path. After one stop you’ll see why we love Madison; and trust us, you will too!
